Yeah, I went with my friend to check out the stuff at $99 Guitar Center. I played a couple of the Tele copies, and then tried a few of their Strats. There was a black one by "Baltimore" that played really nice, and sounds pretty good, so I bought it. The frets aren't sharp (on some others they were like a saw blade), the action is low enough, and the intonation is fine. Hard to believe it was only $100! It stays in tune real well, too. If I upgrade the electronics (the pickups aren't great, go figure) I'll have a real nice Strat for peanuts. Cool!

While waiting for the guy to ring me up, I spotted a green acoustic, picked it up, and it sounded great! Green is my favorite color--especially this color. It's chartreuse, almost. Anyway, it sounds good, is easy to play, and it's green, so I bought it! I figured I'd get an acoustic eventually, so what the heck. Now I have five guitars, soon to be six when I pick up the ASAT.

And, I have an electric I don't have to worry too much about damaging, and an acoustic that is cool looking and don't have to worry about, either.

I lent my SX to my friend, by the way.

I have pics, but my scanner isn't working. Drag. Watch this space for pics of all my gear when I get the darn things scanned!

I'm "green with envy", the GC near me never has anything you could describe as a real deal.

Sounds like a couple of nice additions. Green is my favorite color too. Can't wait to see your pics. 8)

Thanks guys!

There is a new store here called $99 Guitar Center. They don't carry anything that is over $100, including amps, cases, acoustics, acoustic-electrics, and electrics. You gotta try a bunch of them, because some were total garbage, but they do have nice ones in there if you take your time. I am really happy with the Strat copy I got. I put some dice knobs on it, so now it is fully custom!

They had a really nice Orange amp for $85, but I already have a nice practice amp.

I have never heard of "Baltimore" guitars before, and there are no reviews of them anywhere. Not that it matters. Thanks to this forum and playing for a while I know a decent guitar when I play one. 8) I have been playing nonstop since I got it, and it is easily as good as my OE-30 in playability--the action is a tad high but not so bad that I would change it. And no fret buzz anywhere. The pickups are ok, but I am upgrading those as soon as I can to the '54 Strat set. I'm going to put better strings on it tonight, too, just to tide me over until next payday.

I had never heard of "New York Pro" either, but the guitar is full bound, the finish is excellent, and it sounds nice and rich. I am sure it's nothing compared to a Seagull or an Ovation, but it was $100. And it's green! No buzzes, the frets won't cut you all up when you slide around, and it stays in tune very well. Actually, they both do, that is probably what surprises me the most.

Again, drag that my scanner doesn't work. I took pics of my other stuff weeks ago, and never got down to develop them. I had a couple of shots left, so I took pics of the new ones, got home, and nothing. I'd rather have another guitar than a scanner, though!
