Hello all, here is the newest member of the family... a Hamer Standard in honey.

Just got it the other day. Wasn't looking for an Explorer-style guitar, but the deal was great and this thing is SOLID. Extremly well balanced, low action and VERY playable. Really, I'm quite impressed. Given the workmanship on this, I would be hard-pressed to see the logic in spending an additional $1000 for a Gibson.

Ok, well, I am putting in Gibson 496/500 pickups, so I'll call it half-a-Gibson, but the Duncan Designed that came with it were not half-bad.

Peace out.

Nice guitar! I had a dream last night someone left a cherry red explorer in my basement and I claimed it for my own.

OWA would be proud.

Does it sound as good as it looks? Have fun. Perhaps a few of us should stop over and help you break it in..lol

It sounds great, and the best part is the neck. It is a very small (thin) neck for such a big guitar... I was afraid that I'd have to wrap my hands around a baseball bat, but it is much more similar to a Fender neck than a traditional Gibson neck. Great playability and really good balance from headstock to strap-button.

I used to have a similar one in black. Nice guitars. Enjoy! :D

That is very nice. It is one of the guitars on my current "list of want to buy". Of course my list is currently at 26 guitars, but it is in the top five.

I have duncan Designed pickups right now, and honestly I like them a lot. I might swap out the bridge pickup eventually, or pick up a new guitar soon. I like the exporers, but they all cost a good hunk of change.

I'm thinking about an epiphone or agile les paul, or an esp, or a used gibson blueshawk, or all of the above...

Wow, it's like the exact same colour as my Jar Turser Explorer. Don't know much about Duncan Designed pickups so no comments there. Have fun with it!

P.S. I still want a Gibson Explorer
