I believe if you have the pre and poweramp together in a head on the cab its then a stack (or half-stack). If the preamp and poweramp are seperate then its a rack.

Amp definetly. It's like others have said...

Gibson Les Paul custom into a squire ten watt=terrible sound

squire strat into a JCM800=awsome sound

I'd say 90% of why people like a certain guitar or another is the way they FEEL, not sound. Amps provide sound, the guitar is just a tool for the thouughts to flow.

I agree completely, I have a cheap guitar but I think it sounds amazing to my ears when played through a good amp.

I'm going to have to be different and say go with an Equalizer. Whether its a MRX 10 band or a rack mount Art dual 15. reason I just picked up one of the Epiphone galaxie 10 tube amps, even with my hot rodded Gibson's it just not giving me what I'm looking for. I added a Eq before the input and a speaker out jack to patch in an attenuator. it's almost what I want from it, but I'll still need to add another Eq to match the speaker spec's. but it's coming around.

Most of the fun is just in experimenting.

Just a thought

Joe
