I bought a solid state Line6 Spider 2 2/10, about nine months ago, and love it. US cost around $400.00. As Catcha mentioned, the clean sound does have a tonal effect as with all modes but you do have the ability to turn off or reduce the effects. Try the many line 6 spider demos ranging from the 15watt to the 150watt .

I've only been allowed to like play it for an hour because my parents have bought it for me for christmas. which is a bugger. i was only just coming to grip with the effects lol, i must admit, i'd have liked for the twang and blues presets to be on the 30 watt version. cant wait till christmas when i can play it to all my delight :D , cant wait even further to put a good guitar through it instead of my Encore strat

Actually yeh, my mate who i bought the guitar and amp off of used to put the guitar through a line 6 pod to the old 10 watt amp and he said it used to sound good, so this cant be too bad :).. god i just want to rip it out of its box.
