Greetings,
I recently lowered the action on my acoustic Guitar by sanding down the saddle. It made a tremendous difference all over the fret board except for a buzz on the D string 9th fret.Anyone got any ideas on how to correct the problem?Perhaps adjusting the truss rod?Just a note, before I lowered the action I had the same problem on the low E string same fret I think, might have been the 12th I can't remember.

It's possible that tightening the truss rod will correct the problem. When your truss rod is too loose, the neck becomes concave, like a smile. When you fret notes in the middle of the neck (6-12), they can touch frets further up the neck.

It's also possible that you have a high fret. Take a short straightedge that will cover only 3 frets at a time. The straightedge should sit squarely across 3 frets. If the straightedge rocks, then you have either a high or low fret.

And it is possible that you simply sanded down the saddle too much. Easy fix, you can pick them up at a music store for a few bucks. Take your guitar or the saddle along though, the thickness of your saddle and width must be correct.

I'll agree with checking to see if that fret is a little higher than the rest. doesn't sound like it would take much to correct.

Well, if you want to try it yourself, here is a site that shows how this particular luthier does it. It will be about 1/2 down the page.
