I'd like to get the viscious blues sound out of my bridge that guitrists liek jack white and jimmy page have, and something with alot of sustain.... Any one know any good kinds? At 14K (ohms) for the bridge, those PAFs you were ogling on the GFS site would be a good start.
I know it's often a case of playing what sounds good to your own ears, but wouldn't you be more likely to get that thick blues tone from a neck pickup?
And then there's the EQ, the compressor, the amp, the speakers, the attenuator ... just about everything in the chain can affect the tone in one way or another. Yes?
"Everybody got to elevate from the norm."
why not buy one of these and sell your current squire, should leave you out by about the same amount?

well I could do that but that wouldnt be as fun/ cool as making my own,!
think I would be able to get a warmoth neck put on it.
I basically jsut want to build a guitar, the part of my squier that I really liek is the body it is thin as paper and oh so light. It is the lightest electric gutiar i've played
That's interesting. I dont really know how to do painting but my uncle paints cars for a living, he said he would be able to do it, I think that would be sweet. That flag union jack isnt really used anywhere anymore that much, cept maybe say ...Nova scotia?lol Im not much for the colours bu the guitar looks sweet kinda reminds me of "the who" alot!
It isn't a Union Jack, it's a Rebel flag! :D
Zack Wylde, Dimebag Darrell and Lynyrd Skynyrd use it a lot.
haha sweet wylde has a cool gutiar with ripples/ targets on it its trippy!
A few things...
#1, remember that humbuckers tend to have different pole spacing than single-coils... Sine you have a squier your guitar bridge is likely spaced in a way that the strings won't cover/lineup with the humbucker poles (screws). The mini-humbuckers will be fine, but if you buy a set of humbuckers from GFS or others you might find a slight reduction in output since the strings won't be vibrating directly over the poles.
#2, if you want to add a 'bucker you can always buy a fully wired pickguard to simply drop in your guitar instead of dealing with the wiring yourself.
#3, I agree that GFS are inexpensive and sound great. BUT, you can get a Mexican fat strat loaded pickguard for about $50, so look into that. Also, I've had amazing success with Duncan mini-humbuckers... if you search around you can get them for $40 or so (used)

(For "Fender" spacing, which is just a tad wider than "regular" or "Gibson" spacing.) It might be good to do a little measuring before plunking down money on anything, or get something with the "one-size-fits-all" blade polepieces.
#2, if you want to add a 'bucker you can always buy a fully wired pickguard to simply drop in your guitar instead of dealing with the wiring yourself.A prewired pickguard will greatly reduce the amount of fiddling with wiring, but I don't think those are 100% "plug and play." There's still a little soldering needed, unless the output jack is part of the new harness, but it could certainly simplify the process.

I think there was only one other bidder on it, maybe because the seller had been up-front about the fact that somebody had cut its wires back to about two inches. Kinda annoyin' to have to add wire to it, but worth it for the price. (And somebody gave me some nice 24-gauge telephone wire that's just right for projects like that.) Soldering practice!
Ugh wnet to pick up some stringfs at the music store the other day and told the guy what I was plannins see if he had some input. He didnnt he told me it was a dumb idea and I should just buy a new gutiar instead of wasting my time. Kind of upsetting lol. Does anyone agree or do you think e jsut wants me to but a guitar at his store so he can make money?
The guy in the guitar store is stupid. With that attitude, I'd either go ahead and mod what I have or buy a new guitar at another store, just to irk him.
If you like what you've got and feel good about doing the upgrades yourself, then go ahead and do it.
I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

thanks greyeard that makes me feel better. I guess I sort of respected his opinion a little 'cause of how long hes been aplying but It wasn't cool for him to tell me that was stupid.
What should I start with I dont want to do eevrything at once, since it if my first project I want to take it sort of slow!

I think that guy might've just talked himself out of possibly selling you some pickups and other guitar parts. Oh, well.
He's the kind of guy who will get the best of you if you let him, he will charge you 500$ for somethign 300$ but if you can talk you're way into it he is very susceptible to influence I bought a cry baby wah there for 120 canadan when he tried to tell me it was worth 220 conadian. I told him no lol.
Art, any salesman who belittles his potential customers will never convert them to real customers.
