Hello,
Who could help me? I bought a brand new laney LH50 in USA and brought it into my country, which does not have laney representative for repairs. I played just 4 times for no longer than 1H. Them it stoped to work, but the power light is still on. I looked on the back and realized that the power tube were off (no light). I toke them off from the socket and pull it on again. They got on but after heat got off. As I worked repairing electronic devices a long time ago, I tried to understand what was going on. Thus I took off both power tube and the preamp tubes got on. Of course I turned the amp off to proceed to those trying. Summarizing... If at least one power tube is in the socket all tubes get on but it lasts no more than 1min. When no power tube is present, all preamp tubes get on. I checked for diodes, capacitor and resistors that are easy to check. It seems to me that might have a thermistor but in the schematic of the amp that I got on the web there is none. Once again: Who could help me?
:?
I know its a really simple thing, but did you check that the power transformer is set to your countries voltage?
I know you cant bring an amp from America to Australia without major voltage headaches.
Also, just because the tubes are lighting up when you remove some, doesnt mean that its the tubes themselves causing the issue.
If you are getting any power to the tubes, but then it goes away it could be an overheating issue.
I am going to suggest that you really need to take it to an amp repairer. Doesnt need to be a "qualified Laney technician" or anything like that, just go to a music store and ask if they have an "amp guy".
