This is originally a Blind Willie Johnson tune. I first heard Catfish Keith's version on a National baritone tricone in 2001, and it just blew me away. My version's influenced by his and especially by Rollie Tussing III's from his out of print CD "Blow, Whistle, Blow." I can't play like Keith or Rollie, but this one means a lot to me. I especially think of it this time of year, as it brings to mind Jesus' struggle in the Garden of Gethsemane.

I think this is the 1st time I've heard/seen you play... great job!! 8)
Very emotional song. I like it. :D

all these years and I finally get to hear and see your slide and reso action.
very nice plaintive song. your vibrato worked well with this song.
I noticed a lot of hard surfaces around you. a nice woven rug on the brick wall would make the sounds less bright.
that's your Beard Goldtone?

That was great, Ric. I really enjoyed it. 8)

Thanks! Yep, that's my $140 Stupid Deal of the Day Rogue Spider. It'd probably sound better if I used real sound equipment to record it, instead of the built-in mic on my Fujifilm S700 camera that does video on the side.

"I like to play that guitar. I have to stare at it while I'm playing it because I'm not very good at playing it."
