Hi anyone out there....
I have had problems using the Tapco usb.link on a laptop. Definately not software dependent/specific I think. Cool Edit Pro, Audition and Audacity can all precipitate a sudden and unpredictable burst of "white noise" when dubbing new tracks while listening to previous tracks. In fact I have managed to record whole tracks while monitoring, so this is not a continuous phenomena - but very annoying (and loud) when it happens. It appears to be an output only effect as it is possible to carry on recording without interference to the recorded signal. Of course the headphones come off pretty fast so the session is screwed up anyway!
I did initially have some continuous "squarky" sounding output when simultaneously recording and monitoring but resolved this by always recording at the native sample rate of the Tapco hardware - 48kHz. So no problem on that score now...just these occasional ear blasts of white noise! BTW - they last several seconds then stop spontaneously, or if I pause the recording. I have latency buffer at 512 samples. Any thoughts or help appreciated!
Thanks,
Terence
Have you tried an external hard drive? Although the internal hard drive may be fast enough for a time, I can't help but think that there will be issues when your hard drive starts to fill up and your read/ write speeds start slowing down. I would consider an external 7200rpm drive as large as you can afford. Also, have you updated the drivers for all of your gear? Why aren't you making use of Tracktion? It's a great program. Signal routing in Tracktion is the future of DAWs as far as I'm concerned. At any rate, I can't help but think it's a sync. issue. Have you contacted customer service?
