I want to record myself playing guitar at home, to share here, and just to listen to myself. I want to mic my amp. I wan't to know if the following set up will work.

Yes it will work.
the mic you linked to comes with an xlr to 1/4 cable so you won't need an adapter.
$10 does not seem like much to risk to find out, let us know how it sounds.
if you are not happy with the mic i would recommend the behringer xm8500, they are built like a tank and sound fantastic for $20
