YES!! I finaly have acces to the internet again!! so I can get back onto here again!! which is really convenient.

Okay so heres the story, there are several used junk stores in my area that I make a habit of visiting every once in a while on the odd chance that they might have something nifty for sale. well this week one of these trips paid off. I walked into the store meandered around a bit and that's when I saw it. "It" is a large, old, beat up guitar amp. It's made by an old company called marlborro (apparently not the cigaret company). The front control panel says that it's a g50-R
it's got two 10 inch speakers, three channels (bright, normal, mellow), reverb volume bass and treble controls, along with a three way rotary switch for echo trem and vibrato. it has a sepparate knob that changes the length of the effect and can allso turn it off. also the amp is a solid state amp.

After five minuits of looking at it, chatting with the dude manning the cash register and then a little bit of haggling I ended up buying it for twenty bucks. :D When I got home I plugged it in turned it on and against all odds it works fairly well aside from needing some contact cleaner.

I've searched around online trying to find out any other specs on it but so far I've had very little success.

so Is anyone out there familiar with this kind of amp? any feedback would be well appreciated. :D

Congrats on the new amp. For $20 how can you go wrong?

I looked around a bit, that amp is a little difficult to find specific information on. I did find this little article.

Marlboro Amplifiers

Amplifiers previously produced overseas during the 1970s and 1980s. Distribued by Musical Instrument Corporation in Syosset, New York.
Marlboro was a line of amplifiers imported to the U.S. They were produced in the 1970s and 1980s. When they were first introduced they were economy (budget line amps), and like then, that is what they still are today. They made a variety of models that were all solid-state and had various power outputs and speaker configurations. Almost any Marlboro can be found for under $100, and the smaller amps fall into the $35-$60 range, while the bigger models can push $100.

Do an advanced search on Yahoo or Google typing in Marlboro Amp. I think quite a few known players started with this amp. :D

I found this old ad as well.

I would hang on to that amp, someday it might be worth a lot.

Congrats again, have fun.

My freind has an old Marlboro amp that was his moms. It's 20W I believe and is a nice amp. Especially when used with his '78 (I think. I'm probably wrong) Gibson LP "The Paul". Sweet sound. I've had the privilege of using both. Anyway, I really don't know too much about the company except for the fact that they made amps back in the seventies and they aren't in business any more (duh  ). You found a great deal. Wish I could get an amp for 20 bucks! :D Enjoy your new treasure! :D
