Thanks to everyone for all the advice. I have decided that I am going to keep the amp and I am now I am looking at a VOX 4 watt amp (ACTV4-8). This is the one with the 8 inch speaker and can be adjusted from 4 watts to 1 watt to 1/10th of a watt. VOX also makes the same amp with a 10 inch speaker that goes from 4 to 1 to 1/4 watt.
