Help!
I have 2 2x12 guitar cabinets. They are rateed at 200watts and 4ohm or 16 ohm load. I am looking for a new guitar head and all of them seem to have an 8 ohm rating only. IS there a way that I can use these cabinets with a head that rates at 8 ohms? I really like the way they sound but I am confussed asa to how I can hook them up and not destroy a head. I am also looking into the Line 6 Flextone II XL which has 2x12 speakers but it is rated at 8 ohms for additional speakers.
Help ..I am so confused!
Hi there wish I knew the answer, I'm sure someone here does. Try reposting in the amps section :)

You don't want to put a 4 Ohm cabinet on an amp rated 8 Ohms. However, you can use the 16 Ohm cabinet.
The 4 Ohm load could cause the 8 Ohm amp to overheat. That will not happen with the 16 Ohm load. You will get best results by putting a 8 Ohm load on the 8 Ohm amp. Your 8 Ohm amp will not realize its full potential with a 16 Ohm load.
You could run 2 16 Ohm cabinets off your amp to get an 8 Ohm load.
Ohms is a measurement of resistance. The higher the number, the more resistance to current flow.
It was described to me once like this; Using a speaker cabinet with a higher Ohms rating than your amp is like driving with your foot on the brake. Matched Ohms is like driving normal. Using a cabinet with a lower Ohms rating than your amp is like driving down a steep hill with no brakes. Hope that makes sense.
