I've got two of these now. I got to thinking my Electar Tube 10 sounded too muddy, so I put an 8" 20W MOD in it in place of the cheap woofer it had. In that amp it cut down the bass (which was excessive and needed turning down) a bit, but really brightened up the midrange and treble, giving it a nice clear tone that I really like. Still has a nice nasty bluesy growl when it gets into distortion (which that amp does very quickly), but surprised me how good it sounded with the gain way down with a high end Tacoma acoustic with an L.R. Baggs pickup plugged into it. Wouldn't have pulled that off with the original woofer.
So, having been well pleased with the MOD in the Electar, when the stock cheap woofer in my Pignose G40V developed a buzz I bought a 10" 70W MOD for it. I've just put it in and played for a while tonight. Again, my first impression is of clarity. It's nice and tight on the bass end with no flabbiness, and brings out the treble and "presence" sounds of fingers and slide on the strings perfectly clearly. (I have to turn the treble down on this amp.) It sounds great on the low volume end (I can hear all the buzzing from the stuff in the china cabinets in this room now, which were drowned out by the buzz in the old speaker) and still sounds great with everything dimed. It's got the ability to handle the power, which is what started the old speaker buzzing. It wasn't up to running wide open. It also sounds VERY loud turned up with this speaker, enough to get my wife screaming at me to turn it down. (I could only hear her in the pauses.) The speaker's not "breaking up" at this power level, the distortion's coming from the overdriven tubes, which is just the way I like it.
Anyway, I like the MODs a lot. They're on the cheap end of guitar speakers, and they sound exactly the way I want 'em to. Can't beat that combination!

Thanks a lot! I've been trying to decide between an 8" MOD and a Jensen C8r. It's good to hear that the MOD would be a solid choice.
I'm actually looking to put it in what is a pretty bright little Crate amp to try and make it more usable. It's a pretty bright amp, but lacking in presence or sparkle or something in the high mid range that I would like. The bigest problem is a tendency to flub on the low E string, so I'd like something that would tighten this up.
Sounds the ticket!
I think either the MOD or the C8R would be a good choice. I looked hard at both of them for the Electar, and to tell the truth, the main reason I bought the MOD is that it's cheaper.
In the 8" size, the P8R, MOD and C8R all have very similar looking frequency response graphs with the main difference being the efficiency. The C8R is the loudest and the P8R the quietest, with the MOD smack in the middle.
In the 10" size, the 70W MOD is louder than any of their other 10" speakers.

That's useful information, thanks. I didn't realize how similar the sound would be. They market them as if they have different qualities. Though I think it was Naylor over at Reverend who said there just wasn't enough difference between the ceramic and alnico to justify the price difference.
So it comes down to louder or cheaper? For a SS amp I suppose I should go with louder for the extra headroom, but I'll see what the difference is in price.
The difference in volume with a 1W standard signal 1M in front of the speaker's baffle is about 2 dB at each step from the alnico to the MOD to the ceramic. (8".)
