Thank you all for your suggestions! Lots to work from. I'll have to check what brands I have access to (brands I can buy in a local store).
As for getting a sparkling clean sound..............it's not a sound I'm looking for. I don't know whether or not to get distortion from the amp or a pedal, but find leaving it to the amp a little less restricting. No batteries. Might just get an AC adapter and fix that issue.
Quick question, those half stacks, how much do they weigh?
Fender FM100 head (solid state) = 27lbs; FM 412SL 4x12 cab = 82lbs.
Fender FM212R (100W) combo as comparison = 48lbs. Same wattage but won't be quite as loud or 'forceful' in sound ;-)
Fender don't do an all-tube 100W half-stack as far as I know. Tubes are always heavier - a Marshall 100W tube head (Super JH100) weighs 48.5lbs and its matching 4x12 cab = 91lbs.
Of course the cabs have casters, and a handle each end so's 2 of you can lift one between you - then it's manageable. By yourself, even for a strongish man, 4x12's are pigs!
OWA,
The Crate GT1200 half stack I recommended lists the head at 25lbs, and the cab at 54lbs.
May need a buddy to help carry the cab! Good thing they have handles on the sides!

Randall Head on sale. Looks nice, and its on clearance, only 250. Sounds good to me, and should be all you need. Good reviews too.
Who needs a signature?
I mean really...
It's almost always lyrics...
or a cliche...
or garbage about me...
Lets just save YOU from the pain, ok?
Thanks for your help.
I'll look into the Fenders and Crates. Fender is a big name and I already have experience with Crates. And Crates seem to have lighter cabs should I chose to go with a stack. Unfortunately, there is not a single dealer for Randall in Canada and don't want to order it online. Way too expensive.
Thank you again!
Have fun, OWA :D
