I've been playing since early january and today I got my first real amp which is a Peavey KB-15 (The guy who sold it to me says its 40 Watt). (Before I was using a 10W B.C. Rich P.O.S.). I play alot of Old Metallica (The Unforgiven, Enter Sandman, Ride The Lightning) and ACDC, Black Sabbath, Etc. And using the B.C. Rich I could easily get the tones I needed for those songs, (The B.C. Rich had a Gain/Volume/Edge Knob and a Grind button to switch from Clean to Distorted, So I was really used to the built in distortion). This amp has Low/Mid/High/Gain Knobs, What I'm wondering is how can I get the Distortion I'm used to at a relatively cheap cost (I just turned 16.) not to mention something to give me longer sustain and perhaps a more sharper tone (The amp itself gives a dull/old tone). Although guitar might have alot to do with it since I'm still using my first guitar (B.C. Rich Bronze Series Warlock). What should I buy? (Remember Price Matters!)
I would perhaps think about a small multi effects pedal. It will give you all the effects and then some in one pedal. cost less than 100.00. Does the back of the first amp have a line out? If it does you could use that.
WARNING"
"Warning" do not plug the speaker out from one amp to the next amp. I will say not to do this, even though if the volume of the first amp is set extremely low, anything is possible.
I would recommend that you don't do this, unless you can afford to replace the amp that gets toasted because of the power overloading the input of amp two. maybe try Putting an attenuator on the first amp and dropping the power out to -32db.
Best bet would be to get a mulit effects pedal. I won't want to see you toast an amp and be mad at me for even suggesting what I just did. I may push the envolope of sound to the edge sometimes and have toasted many pieces of equipment. I have also been shocked to no end with my foolishness.
Play it safe....Get a multi effects pedal.

Hey,
I have a Peavey KB-30 amp. I play it sometimes with a Yamaha Magic Stomp in front of it. It has pretty decent amp modeling and distortion sounds, and oodles of high quality effects like phaser, reverb, chorus, delay, etc.
Like the other post said, there are a lot of multiFX out there. Many good cheap one can be had used. How much do you have to spend?

Joe has it.
If you have a LINE OUT you can run from that into your new amp. LINE OUT and SPEAKER OUT are not the same thing!! Speaker Out is a powerful amplified signal intended to power a SPEAKER. If you run from a Speaker Out into your new amp it will probably fry it in seconds! But Line Out is a small signal as from a Pre-Amp. It is intended to run into an amp and be amplified. If you have any inputs or outputs on your B.C. Rich amp that you are not sure of, DO NOT TRY THEM. Write back here first. Guys like Joe will tell you if they are safe to use.
