I was inspired by Ken (Smoking Dog) who created an attenuator from the Radioshack volume control. I just made an attenuator for my Epi Galaxie 10, based on the same design. I used a 25W mono volume control from Fries, couple of jacks from Radioshack and a small piece of plywood. I put the whole thing inside the amp, parially covering one of the back openings; no external enclosure required..
The jacks are wired such that I can plug into the attenuator and then to the speaker from another amp, or go out from after the attenuator to an external cab. Also, since the speaker was connected with spade connectors, I didn't actually cut any wires, but just used appropriate spade connectors to patch from the speaker wires into my little board and out to the speaker.
Seems to do the job, although the roll off is very gradual in the beginning an pretty sharp near the end.
Will post a picture if anyone is interested..

Yes please vink.
I remember Kens original post about this and was going to look into it a little further. Just haven't got round to it yet. But I'm definitely interested.
Thanks in advance.

I've had a lot of sobering thoughts in my time.
It was them that turned me to drink.

That'll be the taper of the pot - you might be able to try a different one and get a more even transition? (Volume is generally a log taper, but there are different 'strengths' of log and also linear tapers.) Trouble is, I don't know the specifics of attentuation or RS volume controls - as usual I know just enough to be dangerous
If you don't like the taper, try rewiring it. You could leave the middle connection as is, and swap the two outside connections to reverse the taper.
