Hey guys, my names mark and I live in Houston Tx. Joined this website to meet some new musicians and to provide help where I can ;) But I acually need some help pretty badly. I got a Peavey 410 TVX amp from my stepbrother the other day, and its the oddest thing man! It has NO visible way to provide power to it. It has the plug on the back for the guitar and that the only plug visible anywhere! It sucks because its a real nice lookin amp. PLEASE HELP!

Hi Mark! :D

Do you suppose that it is only a speaker cab, and not an amp at all? Then, it would need a head.

I seems to be a bass cabinet, and could use a nice ten gallon hat on top, like the Peavey Max 450 Bass Amp. 8)

Here are the specs for the 410 (4 - 10" speakers) TVX:

Peavey 410 TVX Bass Cab:

350 Watts continuous, 700 Watts program, 4 Ohms impedance.
Four 10'' (254mm) Sheffield® speakers.
One phenolic dome tweeter with L-pad and protection circuitry.
Frequency response: 30Hz to 15kHz.
Front ported.
Dimensions (HxWxD): 28.25" (717.5 mm) x 24.75" (628 mm) x 19.437" (494 mm)
Weight: 102.5 lbs (46.6 kg)

Its possible. To be honest I'm not familiar with the specifics of amps and all that. The picture you posted is exactly what I have. So if I went and bought a head how does that work exactly?

The head will be your amplifier, plug it into the wall, and plug in a speaker cable - similar to guitar cable with 1/4" jack, from the amp's output to that input on the cab. Plug your guitar into the amp with a guitar cord and adjust the controls to your liking. If the amp is switchable from 8 to 4 ohms output, use 4, but I'd let the others who use this gear say more. 8)

A combo amp, like the Vox AC30 or Peavey Valve King series are amplifier and speaker, built into a single cabinet. The head/cab combo simply means that the amp is separate from the speakers. The amplifier (head) is in its own housing and the speakers (cab) also have their own. All you need to do is connect the speaker output from the amp to the input on the cab, plug the amp power cable into the wall socket, plug your guitar in and switch on.

I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.
