We'll be the opening act, starting at 9am (whew, kinda EARLY) and doing just 20 minutes. Catch it if you can; this'll probably be our sig-gig.
Best regards.

It might be useful to post the date... Or perhaps the date for the day before, so people can sleep over and catch you at sunrise... 8)

Yah, it would've been nice to post the date - duh.
This Saturday, the 7th :D
Man I hate being up this early (5:30 now, got up at 5) on a Saturday morning! Gotta do whatcha gotta do though. 50 mile drive, 20 minute gig, have some nice Hawaiian food, then drive back.
Should be fun though.
ttyl!
Hey, I get up that early every weekday morning to get ready for work. Good thing it's only 7:30am in Wisconsin right now. Hope you have a blast, and incase you've never seen this, here's some uke to get you goin for the day!

Yup, Jake's hot!
Just got back; the traffic (Los Angeles!) wasn't all that bad. We normally get up at 5am M-F as well, but it's nice sometimes to not set the alarm ;)
Gig went good. It was indoors, where I thought it would be outdoors, and I finally got a chance to try a SansAmp Bass preamp. Our TechRider specifies a small bass combo, and I brought mine along, but by the time we setup, it was a straight DI into the PA.
Which was cool, except we have "No Bass in Monitors" in the rider and well...no sound check time (for anyone) and I could hardly hear myself except a little bit through the house. It went really well though - lots of fun, a really appreciative audience, nicer than nice people.
And...lots of great food!
The Spam musubis looked great, but I opted for Portuguese sausage and scrambled eggs - AFTER the set. Lots of beautiful ukes to be bought, lots of uke enthusiasts grinning and walking around. Real different from a regular hoolaulea. There were uke classes and workshops and the same for hula. We just strolled around a bit, got a bag of manapua (pork dimsum), and had a blast. Even got to be in the audience for a few friends we know on the circuit.
Great farewell gig actually. Now, on to some other stuff :)
Take care, and thanks for the encouragement and link
PS: Oh, also got to see a 'bass stick' which is basically...a stick of wood with three strings; like an upright with no body. $550 for a stick though...I don't know. If I get an upright, it's gonna be a real upright.
Take care!
