Lee - it's just a bunch of "Old Farts" strumming along to a bunch of golden oldies, no mics involved, just acoustic guitar,,,although one guy,,,Stu...is a really good slide player, sometimes plays through an amp just to be heard,,,well you have to have a lead guitarist don't you!!!!!

Vic,
Sounds like great fun. Keep it up!
How about posting your version of Band on the Run over the ESD? I'd love to pick that one up.
Steve
Er...it's not exactly "my" version of Band on the Run, the other lads were playing this long before I joined in...
but I can tell you, the tab they started with was from "Ultimate Guitar"....I've never actually seen it, I just sort of followed what everyone else was doing...and we've sort of adapted it week by week, so the original tab is now only a vague reference point...for instance, one lad worked out the solo for acoustic, lots of bends and trills....then one week he played the solo on slide, it went down so well he's played it that way ever since.....

Oh well, thought I'd let you know I won't be able to make it, slight change of plan unfortunately but next time I'm up that way I'll be there. :)
Lee
yeah you do that Lee....
Tonight was another good night....only two of us there for the first hour, only four of us altogether...poor turn-out, but the the other two guys are much older, play more soft-rock and country, but that was OK....we got to play a lot of songs, and what the hell, we got to play some music...and if you get to play, that's the whole point of the night, right? One of the songs one of the older guys picked was "Stone In Love With You"... it was a hit for the stylistics, it was a hit for johnny mathis, neither of them would be in the top 1000 on my playlist...but, nice chords, we had a go at it, and with my rough old weatherbeaten voice and Dennis's high harmonies, guess what? We turned an old clunker into a good tune....
Two guys playing near to the nut, me playing barres, high up the neck, and another guy playing lead and fills...by the time we finished with it (and we did it 3 times 'cos someone...no names...kept screwing up....)
It might sound pretty good next week if everybody practises...
