I really really want to play some Foo Fighter songs but Dave pretty screams in every song and that's not our singers style so not sure we will do any.
I feel your pain on that, I'd love to play some Foo as well. Maybe "Big Me"?
Well quick update. Just went to what I thought was my last doctors appt. for my broken finger and (this could only happen to me) my finger has not healed at all and actually has gotten worse to the point the two bones are probably too far apart for them to heal properly.
So here I am the band has like 24 songs down and it looks like I'm going to need another surgery. Besides not letting the guys down so we don't lose momentum I have an issue with the doctor.
The screws came apart when they had me measure my grip strength and it has gotten worse since then. I feel like they should pay for a 2nd surgery but I'm not sure they will do that. If I tried to sue them it would be hard to prove that it happened in therapy. When it happened I said I felt something but I didn't make a big deal there wasn't much pain just could feel something loosen.
But sueing them won't get my finger fixed. I know if I get a second opinion they would say I need surgery and another doctor surely won't do it for free, plus another doctor is another unknown they could be a hack.
The guy I went to is highly recommened as one of the top suregeons in CT.
Oh well rant over carry on.

Thanks Terry just frustrated right now. The chances of it healing now the way it is are slim so I know it's inevitable that I will need surgery.
We have practice Saturday so I'll see what the guys say. I have just enough motion to play and haven't really had much pain but the bones are not stable and the only way is to get a screw or pin put in.
There is always a chance I would lose even more range of motion and that would kill me but I don't think that will happen. I did have alot of kind of pre bone growth that started before I had surgery that he will clean out so I think another surgery will only help I just don't feel like footing the bill.

That's sounding pretty crappy all the way around. I hope the resolution is/goes much smoother.

Well I don't think the resolution will go much smoother at least in terms of rehab. He's talking about doing a bone graft from my wrist and doing all the cleanout stuff. That's going to really inflame the finger so from that standpoint I think it's going to take a little longer for me to get back to playing.
The last time once I got out of the splint off that I wore for two weeks I started playing (it really doesn't put alot of strain on the finger the screws should be enough to hold it together) but now it may take 3-4 or more weeks to get back.
I don't think the guys will be happy about it .
I can actually still play the way it is now but I really don't want to live with the bones essentially floating around sooner or later something worse will happen.

I hear you Terry and I know another surgery is coming soon I'll just have to deal with the consequences both the rehab and the band.
I just feel bad that we've had so many starts and stops and I held them up already for 4-6 weeks when it first happened.
But I guess if I'm going to do it I might as well do it now and get it over with before we really have a gig or something. If i were to get the surgery next week or the week after I could probably be playing by March 1st again.
But when your hand is in a splint and I'll I can do is look at my guitar it seems like forever.

Hopefully the band won't gripe too much, but I'm with TR if they do. I'd get it over with ASAP, but that's just how I am. The quicker it's done, the quicker I can play.
Not that that strategy did me much good with the ear thing, but let's not open up that can of worms.
It does sound like he is doing more this time? Perhaps make double sure he gives you all of that recovery info up front so that surprises might be minimal and less frustrating?

Do it now. I had keyhole surgery...1999...on my big left thumb joint to fix my arthritis in the joints. Worked great...no problems since...unless my hand is held under ice water for a bit...so I don't put my hand in ice water for a bit!
Get it over and done...don't sweat it.

Sounds very frustrating for you cnev. Hope you can get it sorted ASAP and move onwards!

Ok this is getting a bit weird. We finally started getting back to practicing regularly and the other guitar player has a gig last week. No big deal we knew all about it. So we practice last Tuesday and the mojo is noticably gone ot sure why or who but it seemed like we had no gas.
Just a little back ground the drummer had us play with another guitar player who is an old friend. Supposedly to fill in if they other guy had a show with his other band on a night we were going to play( I won't even get into why we dont even have to worry about that yet). Anyway so we played with him once and then again this past Friday and I'll have to say he is very enthusiastic about playing has learned a bunch of songs and is quite skilled at lead guitar. Him and I seem to play well together too and he's a good guy.
Sounds like a good problem but I'm not sure what's happening with out original band. All of a sudden these guys want to bail on our original guitarist because they don't feel he's "into" it enough. I know what they mean to some degree I know we aren't his #1 priority but he is very good and we are pretty close to getting out there with him. Not sure where his head is though.
It's a ride to practice at his place and he's pretty much told us it's practice at his house or that's it.
I don't want to burn bridges ( he has my amp) but I may be forced to if all the other guys want to bolt.
But I'm also afraid this has something to do with the drumemr and his girlfriend and I don't really want either of them to start making decisions for the band, especially not her.
Anyway just trying to figure out how to proceed.

Are you friends with the original guitarist? Or is it more of just an aquaintance through the band? I assume the answer to that will have a big impact on how you are feeling.
Also, maybe if he has other commitments, he might appreciate the fact you have a stand in guitar player, do you think he would like to share guitar duties equally with this other bloke, which would give him more time with his other band?

Noel Gallagher (who took the words right out of my mouth)
Well Al the original guitarist was an acquantance we met through Craigslist just for the band. Didn't know him before that. We've only played together probably less than 10 - 15 times or so but it was stretched out over several months.
Anyway I don't really like the way this went down but I can tell there is probably no going back now, so I either have to go with the new guy or drop out myself.
I will have to go pick up my amp which will be a bit awkward since I had nothing to do with this whole thing.
Oh well, the story continues.......
