Nice stuff guys!

Arjen, that was awesome. very unique, loved the style. I don't think I've heard anything like that, very cool.

Thanks guys. For those who aren't disgusted by my tone, it was recorded like this:

Ibanez RG550,position 2 (neck 'bucker+ mid single coil), volume 8, tone 1
V-amp2: tube mic-pre-amp model, EQ 9/8/5/7, medium room reverb 12%
GX700:
-autowah: 50, 60, 7, 47, L31
-Reverb: Hall2, 1.7S, 30ms, 10, L43, 100
-Ring Modulator: 45, L15, 80
Software delay and tremolo added after recording.

So basically a guitar with tone pot closed into a mic pre-amp and a bunch of effects :)

Did all you guys improv on the solo's or did anyone sit down and write out what they were going to play?

Just wondering how you all went about it.

My thing wasn't purely improv. First just played around until I had the main riff (Cm penta) of my thing, which is played in a few variations over all C chords. For the G and F chords I just played in Gm penta (for the F chord mostly played notes from Gm penta which are also in Cm penta, but kept the center on G), and came back to the riff for the turn-around, including a small ending lick in C natural minor.

My piece is only about 24 seconds, so there simply is no time to properly build up something, and starting full-speed is a bit lame to me, so that's why it is what it is.

Same here. The first few takes usually evolve into something sort of intended, but I don't compose.
