The Fat Possum Records artists are amazing and not on everyones blues radar. Junior Kimbrough, T-Model Ford, and R.L. Burnside each have that amazing hill country sound. The Black Keys, a contemporary band, are more Fat Possum artists carrying on the tradition and you can go see them at a local club (depending where you live, of course).

Go out and buy yourself a couple of blues samplers. I've got a double CD, called "The Best Of The Blues", altogether 30+ tracks from 25 or more different artists, from all sorts of styles.
I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

Ive done that....one can find five dollar CDs with blues complilations.
one that I found had the original Killing Floor. Page really borrowed some licks.
also, there was an obscure instrumental in blues...Clapton on lead and Page on rythm. imagine!

The double CD has everybody from Jeff Beck, Grateful dead to lesser known artist (to me anyway) like Eddie Cleanhead Vinson, Savoy Brown and Pee Wee Crayton. There's a really different version of House of the Rising Sun by Raveling Blues. Great value for money

There are tons of artists so maybe a compilation is best..... I have to say I third the Willie Dixon - especially if you love Led Zeppelin. You also can't forget Robert Johnson. Some others, sorry for repeats:

From the 2 discs, the first one is my favorite. Anyother opinions?
Man... I was just surfing amazon.com, and I pulled up the Fillmore East album, and there were 5 songs missing! :shock:
Turns out, I had the Fillmore East: Deluxe Edition, which includes a whole bunch more songs that are definatly worth the extra $... I think they are: Trouble no More, Don't Keep Me Wonderin', Mountain Jam, Midnight Rider, and Drunken Hearted Boy... Really should pick the deluxe version up if you plan on buying the Fillmore East... 8)

Don't forget to check out the Los Loney Boys CD they have some good stuff going on there.
