Slydog mentioned All Along the Watchtower by Michael Hedges. I'm shocked that someone has acknowledged this version.
Its one of the greats. In fact, Jimi's version:#1. Michaels version:#2.
The Edie Brickell vesion of "Hard Rain" is pretty good, but Ferry's version is superb....builds and builds from a slow start, throws everything bar the kitchen sink in along the way...if you haven't already heard it, make sure you do....

"Sometimes the beauty of music can help us all find strength to deal with all the curves life can throw us." (D. Hodge.)
I've said it before on the ESD
For me its currently got to be "Girl From The North Country" done by M. Ward, Coner Oberst & Jim James. I've played the CD over and over again and never get bored with it.
If you haven't heard it yet Vic I'll burn you a copy and post it up to you. Let me know.
It would make a great last number at one of your pub sessions. If there's three of you playing it each one could do a verse each like the guys above did.
My other long standing favorites are:
"If Not For You" - George Harrison and:
"Mr Tamborine Man" - The Byrds
Cheers mate, good thread!

The guitar is all right John but you'll never make a living out of it! (John Lennon's Aunt Mimi)
