Hi I've been playing my acoustic for a while (a few months) and was interested in playing the electric guitar as well.
I went to my local music shop and found a really nice Ibanez ART100 for sale, it felt so right in my hands, but I'd like to know is this a good make and model guitar? and as a first electric is it too good? It was priced pretty expensive $899NZ
the other alternative is either a dodgy second-hand online guitar or a new super cheap no name guitar $269NZ. From what I,ve read I am probably better off with the better quality one??
Help anyone with some good advice?
Thanks Daza :note2:

Ibanez is a good make of guitar and the ART100 looks to be a nice instrument (basically their version of the Les Paul). I can't say much about the price, because I have no basis for comparison (either the guitar or the general price of things in NZ).
If it feels right and it sounds good, then no guitar is too good. You may not be fully able to appreciate it, at first, but as time goes on, I think that you would regret taking the No-name Knock-offcaster at $NZ 3.50 :D
Try to barter the price down or to get extras added in (cable, strings, strap, Vox AC30 amp,....... )
I started with nothing - and I've still got most of it left.

Ibanez makes good guitars. My son just got a GRG170DX a few months ago, and even though it's not that expensive, (less than $300 US), it's a fine guitar.

I've got a cheaper Ibanez model, GAX70, but it's been a good one for me. That one looks like a good one too. Probably better than what I've got.

another happy ibanez customer here, they make quality guitars, even at the lower end of their range. but really, a good electric guitar is usually whichever one you're happy with.
Sitting close beside me is an Ibanez AFS75TD-TQ-12-01 (do these Ibanez model numbers mean anything comprehensible?), which I bought secondhand for a lot less than that. It's a quite nice guitar. (A thinline hollowbody with a Bigsby.)

I've owned both high end and low end Ibanez -- wish I still had all of them. good stuff!

Thanks I think I will get this one :D
Daza.
I like the Ibanez guitars, I've got 2, both Exotic Wood. They are both laminate, but the sound resonates better than alot of solid tops in the price range.

Good as in quality? Yes, Ibanez IMO make good guitars. As previously mentioned, good for you? If it feels good and sounds good to you, then yes! 8)

Exactly!
I don't care who's name is on the guitar, if it feels & sounds good to me, what else do I need? 8)

No, my friend bought that Art100 for 400 bucks O_O check out on other pages for it cheaper, and I played that guitar ( kinda looks like a Les Paul ) and it is nice, and has nice pickups , but if ur going to spend 900 bucks get a Prestige one ( Ibanez model Prestige )
