I heard bits of Pink Floyd on the radio and thought it sounded pretty good. I wish I'd been able to catch more of it -- it was a day devoted to other things. It will be interesting to see what's selected for inclusion on a DVD.
Well we all shine on--like the moon and the stars and the sun.
-- John Lennon
Since I was watching almost all day (from 9 am - 7pm West Coast time). I had the live feed from Barrie. And all the highlights from the rest of the world (at least what they cared to broadcast).
I'll admit, I didn't watch the entire time, but most of the day. The last two hours were highlights from London (mostly).
Although, I heard a Live Cream Song (White Room), on the Radio the next day. And the radio announcer did say it was the Cream Reunion. So unless he forgot to leave out that it was the Cream Reunion at the RAH. I assumed it was from Live8.
Looks like I heard wrong (or the announcer screwed up). Usually Clapton plays at every fund, benefit concert there is, so I just assumed it might have been possible.
I just watched the Elton John bit mattguitar, and it seemed like he was doing a really great job. The old guys know how to entertain with just the music and a smile here and there. That 'drunken' guy came out looking like he was about to die.
Yeah I think the announcer was mistaken about the Clapton deal. Clapton is seen at a lot of fundraisers, but they are usually ones that he starts (like the Crossroads fundraiser)
That "drunken" guy is Pete Doherty - while he may be drugged up to the eyeballs ninety nine percent of the time, he still managed to make a brilliant album with his original band, The Libertines.
Pete Doherty isnt the first rock star to go on stage 'out of it' and he certainly wont be the last...although turning up to a charity event probably wasnt the place to do it. Theres been a lot of press about him in the tabloids in England but not too much over here in Australia but by the sounds of it the guy is a bit of a prick...however, hes knocked out a couple of cracking albums with The Libertines and has another one in the pipeline with Babyshambles (both produced by ex Clash guitarist Mick Jones)- some of the wittiest lyrics Ive heard for a long time...
maybe I should move this to the 'Unabashed site or product promotion forum'..
stop...i have found a genius...stop...
