Yep here you go, exactly twice the price for us

though they are still cheap compared to other UK store guitars
Unfortunately, I can't fix the UK prices: Your last point is what I'm trying to get across.

I actually had one of those Epiphone II specials a couple of years ago - tried sliding on it, but not too impressed. However - the action's quite easily adjusted. This is the one I had....
And I seem to recall it had a slightly wider neck than I'm used to - which isn't necessarily a bad thing for slide. Thanks for the memory jog Greg! Oh - and price-wise, it's about £50 cheaper than the Squier Tele.

Vic-
It's the P90/P100 single pup version that most like for slide, tho P90 is the better of the two. It's such a nice hot pup for that dirty tone. The shorter scale on the Epi is a little better for lapsliding as well. Definitely think you'd need to raise the action to 'get good slide.'
Good luck with the search ...

I had a red Special II just like that. I rather liked it for sliding. My boy gave it away to one of his friends who needed a guitar.

That was kind of him! Wish I knew someone who had an unwanted Squier Custom Tele in their collection!

Hey Vic :D
Yeah, I agree that P90's would be a good choice for a slide guitar.
Most hollowbody slide players prefer P90's over HB's.
I had P90's in my SG.
I thought they were a bit bassy.
A bit too much on the low end for my liking.
I attribute that to my Fender tuned ears though.
I have played vintage Gibbo ES-125's w/P90's and really liked them (for nice clean sounds).
You have HB's, so I think you'll probably love P90's.
Here's what Wiki says about them.
Quite informative.
