Amos Garrett's solo in Midnight at the Oasis was a surprise treat for me.
Would that be Maria Muldaur's version? If so, that's a great solo, beautifully fluid and melodic. I remember reading an interview once - I presume it was Mr Garrett - and when the interviewer asked what tuning the slide solo was in, he replied that there was no slide solo - it was all done with slurs, slides and bends!

That's the one. Garrett is credited for creating what's become known as the "Oasis Sound." One of my all time favorite solos -- it's so beautiful. Now that is technique worth talking about.
-=tension & release=-
That is some of the best playing in any decade :D I loved that song, and Maria Muldaur's is pretty damn good also( she is really a very good blues singer BTW

"Sometimes the beauty of music can help us all find strength to deal with all the curves life can throw us." (D. Hodge.)
For me its got to be "Turning Japanese" by the Vapours.
A plethora of powerchords, licks, riffs, and fills.
A well constructed pop song from the 80's
Be excellent to each other & party on dudes!
