I'm wondering what some common tuning for playing slide guitar is, and how to get that tuning (what each string is tuned to). Thanks!!

For acoustic sliding, the most common tunings are:

Open G, DGDGBD from low to high

Open D, DADF#AD " " "

On electrics, Open E is very popular. That's Open D tuned 1 full step higher. On your tuner, it's EBEG#BE.

Open A is also somewhat popular on electrics, Open G up a full step. EAEAC#E.

The raised tunings keep the tension up on lighter strings, making them easier to play. Right now I'm playing electric with .012-.052" strings in Open D, though. Those strings also work well in Open E or A.
