Sorry Vic, no matter how hard I try, I can't wrap my head around "thrash metal'. As a matter of fact, I cant seem to come up with any lyrics lately. I'm in a bit of a slump. Not too worried though, every time this happens I come up with something FANTASTIC once the brain cells start kicking in again!
Falling in love is like learning to play the guitar; first you learn to follow the rules, then you learn to play with your heart.

Well, thrash metal was a bit extreme - I was only half-serious!
If you want a suggestion for something a bit different but still within your capabilities, how about some old-fashioned '50's style rock'n'roll? Something along the lines of "Summertime Blues" or "That'll Be The Day" or "Wake Up Little Susie" - I know you're primarily an acoustic player, so that'd take you out of the comfort zone but still give you plenty of space to work in.

I was listening to Emmy Lou Harris "One Of These Days" on my way to work this morning
and it occurred to that Emmy Lou's style of Traditional Country might work well for Kathy.
Here's the song:

It might not be that much of a stretch though I noticed in the video
she has the guitar capoed at the third fret like Kathy often does.
I'll get back with some suggestions, but I'd appreciate a suggestion to get the ball rolling for me.
Thanks,
Shady
Take care,
Casey

Hi Shady, can you post a link to some of your songs then we've got an idea what your "normal" style is?

I did a search and all I could find for Shady was this.

www.ezfolk.com/audio/bands/1147 is where you'll get most of what I'm up to. (Haven't written anything for a fair few months now, mind.)
Take care,
Casey

Ooooh, I DO like "Single For The Night!" Not sure what the secondary instrument is behind the acoustic guitar - mandolin? - but it works beautifully.
OK, so country/folk is your bag - how about a nice straight ahead rocker? (I'll get someone to do a flat out rocker for this assignment if it kills me! Celt? Chefie? Straycat? ANY TAKERS?) Just think to yourself, "Hey, George could do it!"

Thanks Vic. You're darn right about the second instrument. Mando, most definitely.
Take care,
Casey
John, I'm looking forward to what you come up with :)
I'm glad you liked Maximilian, Ken! Seen him live thrice... good boy, he is :) Yes, I'm into the clips, too
So, I'm starting late again this week- I'll go now, have a look at John Prine I("angel from montgomery" sounds great, by the way, thanks John), Tin Pan Alley and 50s rockers... let's see what it does for me.
Thanks for the suggestions!
