I think I liked the bridge the best. The chord progression and sound in it pretty much nailed the 1960's sound.
The use of the word "Huzzah" didn't do much for me. Maybe if you used "Yeah Yeah" it would have fit better.
One line "The British invasion; Revolutionary War" just doesn't meter right.
Happy New Year to you James. I admire the consistency of your production.
Hi MrEWorm,
Thanks for your encouraging words and helpful critique.
I agree with your comments about the phrasing on "The British invasion; Revolutionary War" not working yet.
The "huzzah" was supposed to be about the idea of a battle cry in the form of a pop song....but maybe "yeah" will fit better.......I'll tweak them a bit as the week goes on and time allows.
Happy New Year to you! Here's to more songwriting/music in 2013!
James

"Yeah" works a lot better than "huzzah," which I associate with the Renaissance and earlier, not the 1960s.
You have captured the music of 1964, but it really doesn't grab me. I can't quite put my finger on why that is. Good start, though.
Renee
Hi Renee,
it really doesn't grab me. I can't quite put my finger on why that is.
I'll see if I can tweak it some more. I think what might be missing is some up close and personal or specific sensory details.
Thanks for the listen and feedback. :D

Hi James
Definitely like the re-write better than the original. Have to say, though, the effect that's supposed to be (I think?) kids screaming at a concert sounded in my headphones like a cross between seagulls and the surf, making me wonder if maybe it was 1963 (release of Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds") instead of '64.
It seems this is my week for picking on choruses! I think the "war" rhyme in the chorus is just that, a rhyme. Maybe changing the third verse entirely might not seem so forced (even though this idea is also a forced rhyme!):
The British invasion 1964
The British invasion on America’s shores
The British are coming! They're here at the door!
The British invasion of 1964
Or something like that. As always, just my two cents.
And, again as always, looking forward to more. Happy New Year!
Peace

 Actually the screams does sound like seagulls, but maybe I can touch it up a bit....maybe some whistling needed.

How about depending more on repetition to simplify?
The British invasion 1964
The British invasion 1964
The British invasion on America’s shores
The British invasion of 1964
or
The British invasion 1964
The British invasion on America’s shores
The British invasion 1964
The British invasion of 1964
or some of these alternatives.........
The British invasion 1964
The British invasion on America’s shores
The British invasion; the Brits are at the door
The British invasion of 1964
or
The British invasion 1964
The British invasion on America’s shores
The British invasion; like 100 years before
The British invasion of 1964
or
The British invasion 1964
The British invasion on America’s shores
The British invasion; they’re screaming for more
The British invasion of 1964
or
The British invasion 1964
The British invasion on America’s shores
The British invasion; hear them screaming for more
The British invasion of 1964
.....or no rhyme.....
The British invasion 1964
The British invasion on America’s shores
The British invasion; abandon all hope
The British invasion of 1964
I'm going for this one for the time being:
"The British invasion; the Brits are at the door"
I tried to add applause to the screaming but it sounds more like the beach waves for the seagulls.....oh well, live and learn.
Like all the possibilities. The one you chose works best.
And you're a braver soul than I, tweaking all those effects! Is that part of a software package?
Peace
The one you chose works best.
Thanks for the feedback :D
Is that part of a software package?
Yes and no. I used a software package, but tried to "create" a new sound
Steps taken:
Use Sonar X2
Open the vst synth TS-1
Set a midi channel for the "scream"
Set up another midi channel for the "applause"
Record some random "chords" to trigger the sounds
Go into the piano roll view and off set the triggered notes
Add an echo/delay audio effect to the midi channel..........and presto!
..........seagulls by the seashore (meant to be screaming teen age fans from the '60s)
Either it's getting better or it's starting to grow on me. The screams are much improved.

Great! Thanks for the feedback.....it's easy to tweak and tweak and tweak and lose perspective on what it improving and what isn't, so it helps to get feedback from "fresher" ears :D
