i think the problem is that i always sound like i'm trying to sing, rather than just singing.

Unfortunately, we don't always get the voice we want
too true. i wish i had a hoarse voice... i wish i could sing like conor oberst, or ray lamontagne or anders wendin... i can't, but i haven't given up trying every once in a while :lol:
you'll find your key, pearl, i'm sure.
the music sounds fine already :D
