Week 14...Family

Good assignment this week I thought....I was originally going to write about my mother's X-Ray vision and super-hearing....she always seemed to know the second I got up to mischief, if not before!....but was struggling to come up with something.....Anyway, this afternoon the Mrs dug out an old Gene Pitney tape and when a certain song came on, it struck a chord.....older readers (i.e those like me who were teenagers in the early 70's) may remember David Cassidy's version......it went something like,"But in the eyes of my woman I stand,A hero, a giant, a man who's as tall as can be,Oh any fool can see....That she's looking through the eyes of love...."So, suitably inspired, I came up with this.....working on the basis that everyone's a hero to someone....which would make a good title in itself ...and which I've decided to use instead of the original title, which was simply "Family"....Everyone's a Hero to SomeoneI can't leap tall buildings at a single bound,Or stop a speeding bullet with my bare hands,To the world at large it seems,I'm just your average everyday man,But in the eyes of my family I stand,A giant, a colossus who bestrides the earth,And when I'm with ny wife and my children I feel,A warm glow and a sense of self-worth....I can't soar like a eagle in the sky,Or see through walls with my X-ray vision,But when it comes to protecting my family,Then I'm a single-minded man with a mission,Because in the eyes of my family I stand,A giant, a colossus who bestrides the earth,And when I'm with ny wife and my children I feel,A warm glow and a sense of self-worth....A family's love is unconditional,A loving family disregards your faults,A loving family kisses it better,Instead of rubbing in salt....And in the eyes of my family I stand,A giant, a colossus who bestrides the earth,And when I'm with ny wife and my children I feel,A warm glow and a sense of self-worth.... Well....parties are a great excuse to shed a few IQ points....I've calculated that if I hadn't been to so many, I would by now have solved cold fusion, understood "A Brief History of Time", written this century's "War and Peace" and learned to read music.......
