The music is not mine. It's "Dirty Disco" by Puzzlicious....It doesn't quite work in parts, but it keeps a beat going
Y7W17 Million Dollar Baby -REVISED VERSION
http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=7364503
I beat ‘cha down
beat ‘cha down
But ‘cha luv me
‘cha luv me
u know u gots 2 luv
me
knocks u flat on the ground
Bump-a-bump whoopa-whoopa thump
But ‘cha luv me
‘cha luv me
u know u gots 2 luv
me
makes u burn
makes u bleed
u can blame it all on me
But ‘cha luv me
‘cha luv me
u know u gots 2 luv
me
kiss u here; kiss u there
make the boo boos disappear
but ‘cha fight it; ya' fight it
u gets me mo' excited
CHORUS
my million dollar baby
my biscuits and gravy
like butter on a griddle
u sizzle, sizzle, sizzle
my million dollar baby
let's roll out the Mercedes
u da Ring Blaster
da Master of Disaster
You're my temple; you're my shrine
Carved like marble so divine
Sculpted down; made u lean
starved u hard; to make u mean
I'm a pilot; doncha fight it
get in the ring and dynamite it
i'm all yours; you're all mine
ring-a-ding-ding it's workin' time
kisses from heaven fists from hell
I swear u take over when u hear that bell
Bump-a-bump whoopa-whoopa crack
Momma done gone and broke her back
chorus
now u down for the count
why'd u play me; play me out
Don't ‘cha luv me
‘cha luv me
u know u gots 2 luv
me
calls u up all the time
it's a disconnected line
Why'd ‘cha leave me
‘cha leave me
u know it's kind of freaky
it ain't kul it ain't hip
u just chillin' with an I.V. drip
ventilators keep u breathin'
can't believe you'd be leavin'
Oh my darling; oh my blood
We were one; so in luv
What I would'nt give for one more chance
I would give my life for one last dance
chorus
Baby!

Interesting to say the least. A different very minimalist approach. I'm not too sure what to think about this one, I think this is going to be a love it or hate it song for alot of people.
The only thing I think that I would change is:
my million dollar baby
bring home the biscuits and gravy
It's just doesn't seem to flow, maybe using
my million dollar baby
bringin home the gravy
would work a little bit better using the same rhythm.
In Space, no one can hear me sing!
I don't think I'd change anything there. It's got potential as it is, and there are always things in Raps that don't make sense.

Joe & Alan,
Thanks for being brave enough to put up the first responses  You heard the version I hope never gets air play again....Not that the updated version is much better
My wife wouldn't even let me finish playing the original version...I said, "I guess this one won't make it around to your playgroup  ". Anyway, I wasn't so happy with the original version chorus. The newer version is better, but not set in stone.
At least the new version, as my kids were getting ready for bed [and always looking for any excuse to stay up longer] decided to dance around while I recorded...I figured it wouldn't make anything any worse...and my wife liked watching the kids enjoy the music....they say the best way to a mother's heart is through her kids
I actually shut my eyes when I posted the song last night...I couldn't look...Did I really want to go there? ...and I honestly thought it was a dream when I woke up this morning that I had posted the song....then I remembered I really did  ....Oh well, all for the sake of becoming a better songwriter
Vic should give bonus points this week if you actually made it through the entire listen of the song and this rather shameless post. :!:
Thanks again for the feedback. :D
James
Hey James :D
Interesting song.
I guess for me, what it was lacking was the depth that the movie had.
You have the characters of Clint and Hilary represented, and centered around their relationship....
The movie though was told from the perspective of Morgan Freeman in a letter to Clint's estranged daughter.
Both, conspicuously absent here.
To me, the movie was more about Clint and his daughter.... and Clint and his past sins.
His relationship with Morgan Freeman (and the responsibility for what happened).
Clint's relationship to God.
And tons of 'What If's?'
Maggie was more of a vehicle for the story, rather than THE story.
Don't get me wrong James; what you have is fine, and if that's what you wish to distill it down to.... that's cool.
But it could be a fantastic opportunity to write a song with astonishing depth of character.
Which could really help in the future when it comes to fleshing out characters and multi-dimensional story lines.
Keep up the good work :D

begins to live more simply without"

"A genuine individual is an outright nuisance in a factory"
-Orson Welles
Ken,
Thanks for the thoughtful reflection....and I agree, I did not tackle the depth or the retelling of the story.
Actually, I focused on one aspect.... I was writing it as the singer being Maggie's mind and the singee being Maggie's body....Her mind is telling her body, quite arrogantly, "I'm in control...suck it up and do what I want" until the "crack" ...spinal injury....and then she is remorseful wanting a second chance to be "connected" with her body...her mind can't handle being left on its own....she would choose suicide over living without the use of her body....a bit of Romeo & Juliet :? maybe not....
I read through it again with your interpretation of the characters and I could see that working, but you're right....that would not have covered the depth of the relationship.....I tried to mask the true characters under the assumption it was a relationship where the dominant half was too arrogant until the other half left and the dominant half was left remorseful....
It's all a bit of exploration and fun between this veil of hide and seek with the lyrics....
....And I didn't realize Clint Eastwood did the music for the film, as well as act and direct it!!!!!WOW!!!!!! I think the music he wrote for it does fit perfectly for the depth of the film....but it's not an upbeat number which was the focus of this week's assignment

James -
Thankx for the insight.... It makes much more sense now :D
I thought it was a rather odd way to portray Clint's character! lol.
I've been a bit hasty I'm afraid, as I'm away from home right now, without all the usual time I had for analysis
But I am glad that you told me, so I can better enjoy what you have done 8)
Yes, Clint is an AMAZING artist!
He's been acting/directing/ and doing the scores for his movies for some time now.
He has TONS of clout with his studio, and actually does all those action type/Dirty Harry movies in order to
be able to get movies like Million Dollar Baby and Gran Torino made.
Those 'Blockbusters' he stars in, make the studio money so that they will back him in losing pictures that he wants to make.
If only Orson Welles had been that keen a businessman!

JimmyJam
JimmyJam,
I like the 2nd version much better than the first. I have not seen the movie but being a Clint fan, I can't figure out why. Now I've got a reason. Ta figure out what chu' rappin' about bro :!:
I'd like to say that even if CE made those spagetti westerns so that he could make good films, I love those westerns. He was awesome in them. I've got The Good, the Bad and the Ugly soundtrack on vinyl. It is awesome 'specially if you've got a loud stereo and hardwood floors.
