Hello,I thought this would take me the whole two weeks but I managed to find some time to write the last3 days. Sorry I haven't been of the mind to critiqueor respond lately but I'll try to improve on that inYear 4.The Eyes of A ChildDay 1My usual form for songwriting in to take a Idea and let it bounce around in my head for a few days and see what happens. That's why I like the assignments they give me a starting point. Children have been on my mind a lot lately as most of you well know especially one certaingrandson of mine. (Who is doing very well by the way)I have been learning Forever Young by Dylan to singfor him at an event next month and thought how much I wish I had written that song. So I guess I'll try to write onesomething like it.I came up with what may be the start of a lyric andtitle after hearing Eleanor McAvoy's - A Woman's Hearton NPR's Thistle and Shamrock Sunday night ( The eyes of a child can see The magic that floats an the breeze )This would suggest an AABB rhyme scheme but the wayI work it may be too soon to tell Day 2Pick up Guitar and look for inspiration.This song may be taking a darker feel than I may have thoughtIf I let the song write itself it will be much different than I had first intended___________________________________________________________________________What the eyes of a child can see Dear LordWhat the eyes of a child can see All the anger and blameAll the suff'ring and shameWhat the eyes of a child can seeWhat the ears of a child can hearDear LordWhat the ears of a child can hearAll the screams and the shouts All the fears and (the/self ) doubts (not sure which word I will use)What the ears of a child can hear______________________________________________________________________________I'll let it rest here and come back to it later with some thing likeWhat the mind can dreamWhat the heart can feelWhat the lips can speakI like that last one but maybe because it just popped into my head while i was typing thisDay 3I'm kind of tired but I'll try to give this a few minutes to see if I can come up with anythinglike a chorus or bridge to fill it out some.Bridge:In the night when there is no one to seeThe mind of a child can dreamWhat the words of a child can sayDear lordWhat the words of a child can sayDaddy why can't you stayMommy cries every dayWhat the words of a child can sayOK so I played this through with some Blues chords in Em and it sounds like a song to meNow all that's left is to put it together and post it and see what happens from there.That's pretty much my process. Hey John,
very nice indeed. I liked the guitar and your singing was great. It truely is a great song I think you should feel pretty damn good about yourself IMHO, well done.
