Hi All,
I wasn't planning on writing tonight but the assignment
just screamed BLUES and I had
to give it a shot.
Pretty standard 12 Bar Blues (pick a Key I'm thinking Em)
Someone's Walking On My Grave
I got this bad bad feelin'
And it just won't go away
I got this bad bad feelin'
Baby it just won't go away
It's like a black cat crossed my path
Someone's walking on my grave
It all started this morning
Read that note said you were gone
Yes it all started this morning
Read that note said you were gone
Ain't no four leaf clover
Gonna save my soul for very long
I got this bad bad feelin'
And it just won't go away
I got this bad bad feelin'
Baby it just won't go away
It's like a black cat crossed my path
Someone's walking on my grave
Gonna find me a Mojo
Nothin' else that I can do
Gonna find me a Mojo
Nothin' else that I can do
Goin' down to Madame Lorraine
Put a spell all over you
I got this bad bad feelin'
And it just won't go away
I got this bad bad feelin'
Baby it just won't go away
It's like a black cat crossed my path
Someone's walking on my grave
It's like a black cat crossed my path
Someone's walking on my grave

Hi Celt,
I can definitely hear this in Sonny Terry, or John Lee Hooker's voice! Real well done. I'm a sucker for Delta-soundin' blues anyways, but this is good.
I mighta swapped "the crossroads" for Madame Lorraine, just to throw another superstitious reference in, but I think either one works. Madame Lorraine has that superstitious element as well, -- a N'Orleans voo-doo queen -- sewing up mojos for folks.
Terrific blues tune
Hi John
This is quite a good read , I didn't understand the Madame Lorraine until Scatchmonkeys post ..All cleared up now ...
I just gotta find me a Mojo with my playing as well
Very Kool John
well done
Trevor
Here is to you as good as you are
And here is to me as bad as I am
As good as you are and as bad as I am
I'm as good as you are as bad as I am
Thanks Guys
Yes Scratch I thought of the Crossroads angle when I was writing
this and also something about Hellhounds On My Trail but felt they
were both a little heavy handed. So instead of borrowing from Mr.
Johnson I made up my own Voodoo Queen. As it stands right now
this is leaning towards the Sonny Terry style but I may try it in a
more delta slide mode sometime.

Hi John,
Where would a blues song be with out this line  ?
It all started this morning
I think this is pretty good really, there is only one line that seems just a little flat to me, this one:
It all started this morning
Read that note said you were gone
Yes it all started this morning
Read that note said you were gone
Ain't no four leaf clover
Gonna save my soul for very long
Maybe something like this:
It all started this morning
Read that note said you were gone
Yes it all started this morning
Read that note said you were gone
Ain't no four leaf clover gonna save me
Now you've left me all alone
Just an idea
Paul
Paul,
I love your suggestion. I'm sure I can come up with something
along those lines.
Thank You
John
Interesting - I never thought blues, might have to have a re-think now....
I like the song, I just wonder whether you actually need to repeat the first verse as a chorus...if you were going to repeat it, it might have more impact at the end....
The clover-leaf line I'm not too sure about - never thought of a clover leaf as saving souls....maybe something like "amulets and charms" might work better....it'd tie in a little better with the voodoo motif as well....
Good writing John! You've certainly got some mojo working on the songwriting front....
:D :D :D

"Sometimes the beauty of music can help us all find strength to deal with all the curves life can throw us." (D. Hodge.)
In place of four leaf clover, maybe "John the Cockaroo" for good fortune and virility according to some 'hoodoo' places you can find on the net. Also used in a Dixon song as I understand.
