sweet child o'mine (fingering for the riff)

Been trying to find some stuff that would be suitable for a run on the new electric, so looked up Paul Hackett's article Easy Guitar Riffs of the Eighties.

Anyhoo, I've just been mucking around with the Sweet Child O' Mine riff and couldn't get the fingering to work adequately. So in thinking "there must be a better way" I came up with the following fingering:

  • Index finger barres the 12th fret, at least up to the D string

  • Middle finger barres the 14th fret up to the G string

  • Ring barres the 15th fret up to the B string

    • The riff then seems to work by lifting off the ring and middle fingers at the appropriate times.

    :?: Does this seem like a reasonable fingering solution or am I making things difficult for myself ... or setting myself up for bad habits?
