Hey even I can play this one!! :D :D

I've been using a DDUUDU strumming pattern with it which sounds quite nice and seems to work ok...

D
I'd like to teach the world to sing
E
In perfect harmony
A
I'd like to hold it in my arms
G D
And keep it company

I'd like to see the world for once
All standing hand in hand
And hear them echo through the hills
For peace throughout the land

I'd like to build the world a home
And furnish it with love
Grow apple trees and honey bees
And snow white turtle doves

That's the song I hear
That's the one thing for me
Sing it again
Over and over.

Thank you!

One of the reasons I've always wanted to play guitar was because I enjoyed the school sing-a-longs from when I was about 8 and this is exactly the sort of song that fits that picture.

Nice one.

yes it's a really good one for the ego... to feel like you're getting somewhere... i've only been playing a few weeks so i'm just happy i can strum and sing along to something! :D

I've been practicing the Bowie song on the other thread "sorrow" for C and G chord transition practice... which is much easier said than done for a complete beginner! So I slot this one in for comfort. :D (they can use the same strumming pattern too which helps).

Thank you!

you're welcome! it's a lovely song... everyone knows it which is nice... but in a way it's a shame it's been "renegaded" to the school sing song... when it's such a classic flower power anthem. i love it!

well i just thought that even some of the so called "easy" ones are surprisingly difficult for a real beginner...

what looks at first sight easy.... because it only has a couple of chords in it... turns out to be a real challenge for newbie fingers!! Although as I said earlier "Sorrow" is a really great song for a beginner to practice C and G transitions... and i'm determined to have it pinned down over the next few years.

I'll post a Mazzy Star song that i've managed recently too... :D

sorry, I'm really rubbish at this!
What do you strum in the fourth line? DDUU for the G and UDU for the D?
I'm very new to this as you can probably tell!

Thanks, looks like I need to practice the strumming so I can make some kind of singing type noise alongside. :D

grrr!!!
I just can't get this, I keep ending up trying to strum each syllable. I'm trying to play along to the record.
Anyone fancy trying to help? Any advice taken, even if it is 'try the triangle instead' ;)

Just tried it again, are there 2 measures of each chord, that's what it sounds like to me
