Standard Blues Song in E. Strumming Pattern is a straight ahead: down up down up, through out the whole song.
Ballad Of John And Yoko
The BEATLES

E
Standing in the dock at Southampton
Trying to get to Holland Or France
E7
The Man In the Mac said
You gotta go back
you know they didn't even give us a chance

Chorus:
A
Christ... you know it ain't easy
E
you know how hard it can be
B7
the way things are going ...
E
They're gonna crucify me.

Finally made the plane into Paris
Honeymoonin' down by the Seine
Peter Brown called to say
you can make it ok
you can get married in Gibraltar near Spain ..

Chorus:
Christ... you know it ain't easy...etc

Drove from Paris to the Amsterdam Hilton
talking in our beds for a week
the newspeople said
what're you doing in bed?
I said “We're only trying to get us some peace” ...

Chorus:
Christ... you know it ain't easy...etc

A
saving all your money for a rainy day
giving all your clothes to charity
last nite the wife said
oh boy when you're dead
B7
You don't take nothing with you but your soul... Think!

Made a lightning trip to Vienna
Eating chocolate cake in a bag
The newspapers said, "She's gone to his head
They look just like two gurus in drag"

Chorus:
Christ... you know it ain't easy...etc

Caught the early plane back from London
Fifty acorns tied in a sack
The men from the press said "We wish you success,
It's good to have the both of you back”

Chorus:
Christ... you know it ain't easy...etc

During the Chorus you can have a friend play these riffs:
Riff 1

---9---8---7---5---4---3---2---0------
--------------------------------------
---9---8---7---5---4---3---2---1------
--------------------------------------
--------------------------------------

--------------------------------------
---11---10---9---8---4---3---2---1----
--------------------------------------
--------------------------------------
--------------------------------------

Bass riff:

E and E7 A
------------ --------------------------------------
------------ --------------------------------------
------------ --------------------------------------
------------ -------2-4-2--------------------------
-------2-4-2 -0---4--------------------------------
0---4------- --------------------------------------

klim,
I haven't *really* been waiting for this one

But since you're at it - a small typo in the riff I *think*

the 4th note played should probably not be 5th fret on E and G (A and C) but 5 fret on E (A) and 6th fret on G (C#) - goes better with A major

...only thing I know how to do is to keep on keepin' on...
