maybe i should install a pickup in my acoustic.

An electic-accoustic is *nothing* at all like an electric. If you're thinking about rock music, forget about installing a pup. As for your budget I refer back to my previous post. The Dean Evo XM is a darn fine instrument to start on if setup properly. None of those $150 squiers are superior to this Dean. Try it.
if i get the dean, will i have to refret it? i was looking at the reviews and all the complaints were about lousy tuners (upgradeable), lousy pickups (upgradable), and small frets (very expensive, but upgradeable). i dont have engoungh dough to hire somebody to refret it, so if i do refret it, im gonna have to do it. Is this an easy thing to do? if so, how much do the frets cost? Does any body have experiance with this?

Wow, that's retarded. They got you an amp, but no guitar!
Sara owns joo!!!!
You won't have to replace the frets, but no, it's not easy. I have guiars with vintage (small) frets to jumbo and they just feel different, that's all.
I actually like the small frets because you don't have to worry so much about pushing too hard and changing the pitch of the note. I also prefer them for bar chords.
Many people prefer the larger frets for bends because it reduces the tendency to "fret out" on a guitar with a flatter neck radius.
ya it is retarded, but im gonna get one soon! ... Or should i hold out?
