Yeah, the reviews at harmony central have them pretty equal.
I like the V-Amp 2's web resources for patches and the like. And the Zoom because its one single unit (not the unit and footswitch).
But like I said, I will only be able to test out the zoom. So I will go blindly with a v-amp tone.
Thanks again for the quick response!
Just felt like posting an update.
Based on a lot of the good recs from you guys here, I picked up the v-amp2 a couple of weeks ago. I must say, its great! Thanks for all the help!
My only criticism is that some of the presets are at vastly different volumes. For example, Bank 1, preset A (Street w/no Name) is far louder than Bank 1 preset
C (Every Breath). Now I know its not a big deal as 1.) most players will not use presets, and 2.) it is unlikely to use those two tones in one song. But still, there is a vast difference in volume.
I had gone to two Guitar Centers. The first didn't carry it. At the second, there were two left. The staff guy there gave it good reviews and then tried selling me the POD. Hhhmmmm blatant attempt to up the sale??? When I would budge from the v-amp, he said the tone quality was great but gave it negative feedback by telling me how Behringer has been alleged to "copy" the work of other fx companies. I could care less about their corporate and design ethics and whether their v-amp delays too closely resemble Boss delays.
The unit is far more rugged that I thought. Reviews that I've read about its fragile plastic casing getting easily damaged must be written by people that don't care for their equipment. While plastic it is pretty sturdy and the footswitch is in a medal casing.
I should have added that I find the manual confusing. I am not that technical. Though willing to learn, I need something more in plain language, especially in editing. By the way if anyon has tips or knows of a tutorial/walkthrough for manually editing patches, I'd appreciate the info!!
Cheers!
Congrats on your purchase.
All of the Behringer user manuals that i've seen are "Average" at best.. My advice, don't be scared to tinker with it to see what sounds you can get (you can always restore factory settings if you do something you can't figure out how to reverse)
I edit my patches on my PC via a MIDI cable as it allows you to rename and save them. You could try this if you have a MIDI adapter.
I hear Yahoo has a user group for the V-Amp aswell... you might want to check it out (i don't know if they have tutorials or not)
Peace
J

Thanks Mike!
I've checked over at the yahoo group. and talking to some people there too. Found a ton of patches to download which are all pretty interesting. I should get the midi connection up and running soon (I hope) so I can transfer them over. Until then I'll keep trying to tweak the unit.
Thanks again for the help!
