hi..just wanna ask you all..i will have a gig on this christmas...but i am having a problem because of the limited line input in the mixer ( we use 10 mic for singers,1 for sax,5 line more for keyboards,n only 1 unused line left) now,the problem is..there is only one line left in the mixer, but we wanted to use 2 guitars..later, the soundman taking care of this by adding a keyboard amp ( cause they don't have guitar amp) that has 3 channels between the guitars and the mixer...oh ya, they put the amp besides me,i think it is for my monitor too.
now, my questions :
1)is it a good way to handle that kind of situation? or are there any other better way to take care such of thing?
2) all of the guitars plugged into the mono channel on the keyboard amp...why? is it good setup?
3) i play acoustic guitar..n i use v-amp2 as an fx device ( i use the modern high gain amp modelling though, just for one song, with my acoustic guitar)...do you have any suggestion how to setup the vamp2 in that situation ( not having enough line in the mixer)?
4)i'm using the keyboard amp for playing acoustic electric guitar and v-amp2..do you have any advice for me about this? is there anything i must be aware of?
thx u so much... :)
Well, if you know someone with a mixer, both guitars could go into that and then out into the remaining channel of the main mixer.
Probably don't have time, but you could pick up an inexpensive mixer like this:
I would just let the soundman set you up. Worry about playing well, let the soundman worry about the mix. Most soundpeople do not really care for advice or help from others. If you irritate the soundperson, they will make you sound bad. Treat 'em good and they'll make you sound great.
If you know something better than Rock and Roll, I'd like to hear it - Jerry Lee Lewis
AMEN Wes,.. I like opinions but when i'm trying run a show i can't stand someone to tell me what to do unless its my crew. it appears you probably have a 16 channel board. meaning I bet there may be 4 stereo pairs. buy an adapter and use those.
