Well on top of all the other CRAP that has been going on with me lately my OLD HP laptop (300mHz) just about bit the dust...and I need a laptop for work...
I decided to apply for the Dell Prefered Credit and to my shock I got it! So I just got the XPS M140. Being a teacher I got a 4% discount..I tried finding better codes for a bigger discount but none were offered for this computer. It has a free DVD burner upgrade and 18 months No INTEREST! That's why I got this one instead of the cheaper models...with the interest it actually was almost the same price...
I should have this paid off in less than the 18 monts (I hope!) and then I can start looking at thier LCD TV's! So much for my guitar GAS for a while!!!
My ex works for Dell.. God I hope she wasnt your sales rep.
But seriously.. Congrats on the new computer. I have been thinking of getting one to.. Maybe next year. Will definatly be a dell if I do. I think their customer service is top notch.

Dude, you got a dell.
Great computers, I'm on one now, I love it. And yeah, their customer service is amazing, even though I hardly need it. I wouldn't recomend any computer over dell, you made the right choice.
Congrats :)

Whatever happened to that guy? Guitarist in a SCREAMO band, maybe? The Taco Bell dog could be the drummer. And to prove I'm from the 80's, Spud Mackenzie (have they ever talked about him on a I LOVE THE 80's show) will be the bass player. I figure dogs could lay the rhythm down pretty nicely. Last, but not least, THE NOID will be the singer. OK, Im bored...

One of my favorite people 8) . I enjoyed him more than most TV shows on at the time.

Oh yeah, I remember that...I bet you my little SCREAMO band is way too real in his head.
Cool! I've been watching the Black Friday ads online and Best Buy and Walmart both have laptops on sale that day for $380 and $398. Not the best, but perfect for my mobile needs. I hate shopping and I hate shopping crowds even more, but saving around $350 will hopefully make it worth it. So I'll be dragging myself out of bed around 4:30am to go stand in line at Best Buy (they have the Toshiba for $380, so I'm starting there). Fun stuff. :(

Be careful with these "deals"...really check the specs and do a lot of comparisons...Plus also beware that many stores will only stock like 50-100 of these just to draw people into the store...
I did Blacl Friday ONE day and I wil NEVER do it again...the money saved is NOT worth waiting the the cold for 3 hours...and many times if you go later that day many of the prices haven't gone up much...
Mike, I hear ya! I've never been shopping on that day, nor had I planned to, but I've looked over the specs for both laptops and they aren't bad. I was going to buy a portable DVD player for trips and such, and the ones I had looked at were $200. So for just a bit more I get a PC that can hold my music and more. Plus I'm starting to do a lot more DVD and website business on the side (I create home movie DVD's for weddings and such and websites for musicians (or at least that's been my primary takers so far)) so this would allow me to do work on the road. Also, we are going to do our own music at our wedding so a laptop is going to be used as the "DJ".
But, in the end, I'm a geek who loves toys and all that is just an excuse to get another one! :)

Well this deal just got sweeter on Friday...
I was comparing the specs between the full priced version of this laptop and the one I got "educationally discounted". I noticed that everything was the same EXCEPT the hard drive! The discounted one has a40gb drive and the full priced one has a 60gb drive. I called Dell and asked them where my dicount was? They just changed the specs in order to "say" I am getting a discount. So technically this was NOT thesame computer. I spoke with one of the supervisors on Friday and she reviewed everything for like 20 minutes, I am sure to try to prove me wrong. She couldn't do it and said "You know you're right!" She then said she could cancel my order and then reorder the one with the 60gb but of course I would have to wait longer to get my computer. Plus, I can deal with 20 less GB's...it's the fact I was told I was getting a discount when I was REALLY getting a "lesser" computer...
The supervisor was VERY nice and then offered me a $50 discount coupon on my next purchase. At least Dell stood behind their mistake and that I can appreciate...
Well, yesterday I decided to see what else I could buy since I had the extra $50 and I ended up getting this D-LINK SYSTEMS DI-624 AirPlus Xtreme G High-Speed 108Mbps Wireless Router listed at $69.26. With my coupon and shipping and taxes it came to $24 and change! That's $15 dollars cheaper than the mail-in rebates offered in this weeks circulars!! PLUS, there is a $25 mail-in rebate offered by D-Link I MIGHT be able ot get. I say "might" because the sales person said that since my final price was less than the rebate I might not qualify...but hey it's worth the price of a stamp to find out!!
