So that means durung the seventh inning stretch at ballparks all across America, when fans are singing "we'll root, root, root for the home team..."!!!!!!!
'fraid so...
There's a famous textbook definition of the diet of one of our native animals (I think it was the wombat) that goes "Eats roots shoots and leaves".
This has been widely quoted as also equating to the wooing habits of the average Australian male! Just add a couple of commas - "Eats, roots, shoots and leaves....." :P We're apparently not famous for our finesse....
Not me of course. I'm a gentleman....
Puts that old song, "Rootin' tootin' Cowboy Joe" in a whole new light doesn't it....

The American context of the word root always gets a giggle from me ..
I love that Root Beer <-------- but how is my question
spectators rooting for their team <-------- lucky buggers

He scored against the Hammers as well, it's only the fact that I am also a big Barcelona fan (Zenden is an ex Barca player) that I let him get away with it, otherwise I might have had to send the boys 'round
The only thing that keeps me from realising my full potential is the depressing awareness that it wouldn't take much time or effort...
LOL....I guess as a Hammers fan, you'll be hoping chelsea get "hammered" this week?
That smug, arrogant "special one" has replaced Fergie at the top of most people's hate list....OK the lads went down 1-4 last time out, I just consoled myself by playing the video of the Champions League semi-final last year....

I think hoping is all it will be, but you never know strange things do happen. I can console my self that both Chelsea and Spurs are only doing so well because of all the ex Hammers they picked up at bargain bucket prices.
Still at least we managed to snatch a draw at Spurs today, Barca beat Real Madrid 3 - 0 in Madrid yesterday and London Wasps beat Bath in the rugby so not a bad weekend really.
Good luck to Liverpool in the Champions league and hoping Anderlecht can do the business

Ill chuck another team into your little English game ( l o l )

Now there's a man who should make a visit to Specsavers - every time a penalty award went against Arsenal, or an Arsenal player got sent off, his usual comment was "I did not see the incident from my position on the bench".....
What? You've got the best seat in the house...not as if someone's stood in front of you.....
